The 50-parameter evaluation model
The same model WCRC uses for the MegaBrands 501, read for business markets. Five pillars, ten parameters each, fixed weights.
P1 · Brand Positioning & Recall
Weight 28% · 10 parameters
In business markets a brand is shortlisted only if the people who decide know it. This pillar reads whether buyers, specifiers, engineers and distributors recognise the brand, recall it without prompting, and can say what it stands for and how it differs from the alternatives in its category. It carries the largest weight because awareness and clear positioning decide who is considered in the first place.
P2 · Trust & Sentiment
Weight 26% · 10 parameters
Business purchases are long, costly and hard to reverse, so trust carries unusual weight. This pillar reads trust and advocacy among customers, distributors, investors, employees and the wider market, and how well the brand's reputation holds up when something goes wrong. With positioning, it accounts for more than half of the total weight, because the two decide who is shortlisted.
P3 · Product, Innovation & Delivery
Weight 20% · 10 parameters
Product and delivery decide who keeps the account. This pillar reads the quality and consistency of what the company supplies, its record of innovation, and how reliably it delivers against its commitments. It looks at what customers, specifiers and distributors experience, not at what the company says about itself.
P4 · Sustainability, Governance & ESG
Weight 16% · 10 parameters
This pillar reads how credible a company's environmental and social commitments are, and the standards of governance and disclosure it keeps. It works as a threshold more than a differentiator: weakness here pulls a brand down faster than strength pushes it up, which is why it is weighted lower without mattering less.
P5 · Digital & Financial Soundness
Weight 10% · 10 parameters
This pillar reads the brand's digital presence and capability, and the financial stability, longevity and supplier confidence that buyers perceive in it. It is read the same way for listed and unlisted companies. Like governance, it acts as a threshold: weakness pulls a brand down faster than strength lifts it.
Why these weights
Positioning and trust carry more than half the weight because in business markets they decide who gets shortlisted. Product and delivery decide who keeps the account. Governance and soundness are weighted lower not because they matter less, but because they act as thresholds: weakness there pulls a brand down faster than strength pushes it up.
