About Business MegaBrands
Business MegaBrands is an annual research index of India's leading business brands, published by WCRC (World Centre for Research and Consulting). The 2026–27 edition evaluates a locked cohort of 1,280 purely Indian business brands in 250 categories on WCRC's 50-parameter brand evaluation model, and names one Business MegaBrand in each category. Inclusion in the cohort and selection as a Business MegaBrand carry no fee.
Who publishes it
Business MegaBrands is published by WCRC — the World Centre for Research and Consulting — through its MegaBrands research practice. WCRC also publishes the MegaBrands 501, its index of India's most powerful brands across consumer and business categories.
What it measures
Brand strength in business markets. Not market capitalisation, not revenue, not a valuation in rupees. A company can be very large and have a weak brand among its buyers; a mid-sized specialist can own its category. The 50-parameter model is built to tell the difference.
Why "purely Indian"
The index is about Indian enterprise. Every brand in the cohort is an Indian company — Indian-owned and Indian-controlled. Indian subsidiaries of multinational groups are not eligible, however large their Indian operations. Companies with foreign financial investors remain eligible where control sits in India.
The relationship with MegaBrands 501
The MegaBrands 501 covers the market-facing brands Indian consumers and businesses choose, across 501 categories. Business MegaBrands goes deeper into business markets alone, with its own 250 categories. 110 Indian brands are in both cohorts; each is evaluated within the category structure of each index.
