Dabur Honey has taken one of India’s oldest foods and made it part of a modern morning. A spoonful in warm water before breakfast, a drizzle on toast, a swap for sugar in tea: the brand has spent years giving households reasons to reach for honey every day.

That habit rests on an older story. Dabur began in 1884, when Dr. S.K. Burman, an Ayurvedic doctor in Calcutta, set up a small business making Ayurvedic medicines. The company’s name joins the start of “Daktar”, or doctor, with the start of Burman. More than 140 years later, Dabur products reach 8 in 10 Indian households, the company says, and Dabur Honey is one of the company’s Power Brands.

In FY2025-26, Dabur India’s consolidated revenue reached Rs 13,193 crore.

WCRC MegaBrands covers 501 categories in India and selects one benchmark brand in each. It looks at brands through five pillars: Brand Positioning & Recall; Consumer Trust & Sentiment; Product, Innovation & Delivery; Sustainability, Governance & ESG; and Digital & Financial Soundness. Dabur Honey has been selected as the Mega Brand for Honey, jams and spreads by the Business Intelligence Unit of WCRC (World Centre for Research and Consulting). Pillar 1: How Dabur Honey Owns Share of Mind

Brand Positioning & Recall · weighted 28% in the MegaBrands framework · How MegaBrands measures this

Dabur Honey’s clearest strength is its weight in the category. In an investor presentation in February 2025, Dabur put its volume share of honey at 49%, up 670 basis points over the previous four years.

That share was built by giving honey a job to do. In 2009, Dabur gave the brand a new logo and pack, with a red “eye” that the company calls the “Eye of Good Health”, and set out to present honey as a natural health food and a substitute for sugar. K.K. Rajesh, then Executive Vice-President, Marketing, explained the idea plainly: “The thought behind our campaign is to wean people away from sugar.”

Later campaigns tied honey to fitness. The brand promoted a simple ritual: honey with warm water every morning. A November 2024 film featuring actor Akshay Kumar urged young adults to adopt an active lifestyle and to start the day with honey in warm water. Varun Gattani, then Category Head, Marketing, said that over the years Dabur Honey “has championed the movement of staying fit and healthy”.

The brand also speaks to regional audiences. In January 2022, Dabur signed actor Rashmika Mandanna as brand ambassador for Dabur Honey, to consolidate the brand’s foothold in South Indian markets.

Pillar 2: Why India Trusts Dabur Honey

Consumer Trust & Sentiment · weighted 26% in the MegaBrands framework · How MegaBrands measures this

Trust in Dabur Honey starts with the name on the jar. Dabur has made Ayurvedic and natural health products for more than 140 years, and the company says its products are used in 8 of every 10 Indian households. Honey sits naturally in that portfolio: Dabur lists it with its chyawanprash and its cough and digestive remedies among the Power Brands of its healthcare business.

How Dabur Honey reaches you

Testingchecked on several parameters, including adulteration

Sterilised bottlessealed for shelves

In 2021, Prashant Agarwal, then Marketing Head-Health Supplements, summed up the relationship: “Dabur Honey has been trusted by generations as their preferred health and food supplement.”

The brand explains in detail how it checks what goes into each bottle. Dabur says raw honey from beehives is tested on several parameters, including adulteration, then blended for texture, aroma, taste and colour, and bottles are sterilised before sealing. On its product page, the company says its honey clears more than 100 quality tests, and it lists isotope ratio (IRMS) testing for sugar adulteration and LC-MS/MS testing for rice syrup adulteration and antibiotic residues.

Trust also comes from how a brand chooses to speak. In December 2021, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Dabur Honey released “Shuddhata Sabke Liye”, a film about a blind couple who make everyday moments special for each other, with a voiceover by the poet and actor Swanand Kirkire.

Pillar 3: The Engine Behind Every Dabur Honey Jar

Product, Innovation & Delivery · weighted 20% in the MegaBrands framework · How MegaBrands measures this

Dabur Honey has widened its range without losing its core. Alongside the classic pack, Dabur’s investor material lists Organic Honey, Sunderbans Honey and Himalayan Honey as premium platforms. In October 2024, the company said it was growing premium honey in double digits.

The most visible new idea came in July 2021. Dabur Honey Tasties, a flavoured honey in chocolate and strawberry variants, took the brand into syrups and spreads. Dabur says the product is enriched with Vitamin D and has no added sugar. It launched in squeezy packs at Rs 120 for 200 grams, to be added to milk or spread on bread. “Dabur Honey Tasties, a one-of-its-kind innovation in the honey category, provides a tasty treat that kids will love,” Mr. Agarwal said at the launch.

Getting jars onto shelves depends on Dabur’s distribution network. In January 2026, Mohit Malhotra, then Dabur’s Chief Executive Officer, said that the company’s “distribution network today covers more than 133,000 villages”. That reach lets a single brand serve a city supermarket and a rural grocery with the same product.

Pillar 4: Dabur Honey and the Bees Behind It

Sustainability, Governance & ESG · weighted 16% in the MegaBrands framework · How MegaBrands measures this

A honey brand depends on healthy bees and skilled beekeepers, and Dabur has invested in both. In October 2023, Dabur and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir ran a seven-day training programme for local beekeepers. It covered hive maintenance, disease management, pollination and honey extraction, and Dabur described the effort as training and certification for local beekeepers.

In May 2024, as an extension of its World Bee Day work, Dabur gave 250 bee boxes, 2,000 bee frames with bees and other beekeeping equipment to 27 local farmers and young people in Kashmir, and the university trained them in colony management. Mr. Agarwal said the programme aimed to “support sustainable livelihoods through this beekeeping training program.”

At company level, Dabur reports that it collected, processed and recycled about 27,000 tonnes of post-consumer plastic waste in FY2021-22, the year it declared itself plastic waste neutral. Its plastic waste programme began in 2017-18.

Governance follows the structure of a listed company with a long family history. Mohit Burman has served as non-executive Chairman since August 2022. In February 2026, Dabur made Mohit Malhotra its Global Chief Executive Officer and appointed Herjit S. Bhalla as Chief Executive Officer, India Business, from April 2026.

Pillar 5: Dabur Honey’s Growth With Financial Strength

Digital & Financial Soundness · weighted 10% in the MegaBrands framework · How MegaBrands measures this

Dabur does not publish revenue for Dabur Honey on its own, but it does report how the brand is growing. Dabur Honey grew 10% in the October to December 2025 quarter. In the January to March 2026 quarter, Dabur said the brand’s growth was “in twenties”. In the April to June 2026 quarter, it grew 8%.

FY2025-2613,193

The parent company gives the brand a strong base. Dabur India’s consolidated revenue rose from Rs 12,404 crore in FY2023-24 to Rs 12,563 crore in FY2024-25 and Rs 13,193 crore in FY2025-26. In the first quarter of FY2026-27, revenue rose 10.6% to Rs 3,764 crore. “Our performance demonstrates that even in uncertain times, consistent execution and consumer-centric innovation remain our strongest growth drivers,” Mr. Malhotra, Global CEO since February 2026, said in July 2026.

The brand is also moving with shoppers online. New-age channels, including e-commerce and quick commerce, made up 21% of Dabur’s sales in FY2025-26, according to reports of the company’s August 2026 annual general meeting presentation. Dabur’s investor presentations list AI-based digital content and a regional influencer campaign for Dabur Honey, and Honey Tasties was sold on leading e-commerce platforms from its launch.

The Dabur Honey Benchmark

Every category has leaders. A MegaBrand is the brand its category is measured against. Dabur Honey holds that place in Indian honey because its record is strong on every pillar at once. By Dabur’s own data it holds close to half of India’s honey volumes. It carries the trust of a 140-year-old Ayurvedic name, explains its quality checks openly, draws on Dabur’s rural reach and keeps growing.

Above all, it shows how a brand can give an old food a new place in the day. By giving honey a daily role, as a sugar swap, a fitness ritual or a children’s spread, Dabur Honey has turned an ancient food into a modern habit.
